Personal Data That We Collect When You Use Our Website

In the normal course of operation of our website, your web browser will provide our website with the following personal data:

  • Your IP address, ie where our website has been accessed from
  • The type of device you are using to access the website, operating system, version and related settings
  • The type of web browser you are using, version and related settings
  • The language setting of your web browser and related settings

This data is used during normal website operation to determine where (which IP address) to send the requested web page back to.  Further data is augmented with the above information when it is stored in webserver log files:

  • Data and time of web page access
  • The web page, social media post, advert or other link that brought you to our website, also known as the “referrer”

Log files are stored to support locating and fixing problems within the website and to help identify fraudulent attacks to our site.

Attempts to directly access our servers, or to log in to our servers or website are logged by IP address and date/time in order to help prevent fraudulent attacks and record login successes and failures.  Failed login attempts may be logged and blocked in order to prevent further fraudulent attacks.

The personal data listed above along with the augmented data may be used to:

  • Identify web pages viewed within a session (ie a period of browsing), including initial (or landing) webpage viewed, exit (or final) web page viewed, and pages in order from landing to exit

Login Information

If you have an account and you log in to our website, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

How Long we Retain Your Data on Our Website

For users that are registered on our website, we store the personal information provided in your user profile. Website content created or edited by a user will be marked with their details as creator or editor and the date/time of that change.  This information is retained indefinitely or until the content has been deleted.
