Recycling Shame

Recycling bottles

When will Havering catch up with other boroughs and councils and start taking recycling seriously?

In nearby Chelmsford the Lib Dem run City Council has implemented some fantastic recycling plans which include having separate bins and sacks for recycling food, plastics, paper, cardboard and non recyclables - they have bins for cans, bottles, and even clothes and small electrical items. Garden waste is even collected at no extra charge!

In Havering it feels like our recycling is in the dark ages - residents are advised that the only plastic items that can be placed in orange sacks are plastic bottles - all other plastics should be put in black sacks with all other waste. How is this being allowed to happen in the year 2021?

It's time Havering Council started to realise that people do care about the environment and want to have a positive impact on the area that they live in - it's time that the council cleaned up its act and implemented a brand new modern and dynamic scheme to deal with the borough's waste.
